How the System Works

Parcels enter through the centrally located induction conveyor, where high-speed barcode or vision scanners capture identification and handling data. The WCS assigns an optimal chute based on routing logic, chute availability, and load balancing.

Once scanned, the parcel is transferred to the Vertixo carriage cross-belt. The module then moves horizontally along the Y-axis while the lift simultaneously adjusts its height along the Z-axis to reach the required chute level. Upon reaching the correct aisle and elevation, the cross-belt executes a left, right, or center discharge.

As the parcel exits into its chute, the Vertixo module returns to the home/induction zone—ready for the next parcel, ensuring a continuous and efficient workflow.

Dual-Gantry Configuration Explained

The Vertixo sorting logic tightly synchronizes Y, Z, and X axes for reliable, high-speed operation

Single-Gantry Configuration

Supports single infeed line with one gantry managing all aisles and levels. Ideal for medium throughput operations (900 parcels/hour). Compact and cost-efficien...

Dual-Gantry Configuration

Supports two infeed lines with parallel gantries. Intelligent vertical crossover ensures seamless passing without collision. Delivers higher throughput (1500 pa...

Intelligent Crossover Logic

During crossover events, each carriage automatically shifts to a different vertical level, allowing both gantries to pass seamlessly without interruption, ensur...

Sorting Process Sequence

1. Induction & Scanning

  • Items are fed into the system via an induction area and scanned for identification and routing information.

2. Y-Axis Travel

  • The gantry moves horizontally along the Y-axis to position the carriage above the target aisle.

3. Z-Axis Lift

  • The gantry lifts or lowers the carriage along the Z-axis to the correct vertical layer within the aisle.

4. X-Axis Cross-Belt Discharge

  • The carriage-mounted cross-belt cv activates, accurately discharging the item along the X-axis into the designated chute.

5. Multi-Layer Chute Sorting

  • Items are directed through the appropriate multi- layer chute to their final destination or accumulation point.

6. Return & Reset

  • The gantry and carriage return to the induction area, ready for the next sorting cycle.
